SCF5/32-N1 | 316 Stainless Steel Female Straight Stud

The Pneuforce SCF5/32-N1 is a 316 stainless steel female straight stud for 5/32" (nominal 4 mm) tubing and a 1/8 NPT connection. Its push-to-connect interface and FKM (Viton®) seal support maintainable pneumatic and vacuum lines where corrosion resistance and equipment washdown are important.

How This Female Straight Stud Works

This female straight stud accepts the matching male threaded connection and provides a push-to-connect socket for tubing. The female thread is on the fitting; it is not the same as a male-threaded straight stud.

Use it when the component offers a male NPT port or nipple and the tube should leave in a straight line.

Typical Industrial Applications

  • Male-threaded instrument nipples or adapters
  • Control cabinet and utility skid tubing
  • Machine-mounted pneumatic sensors or valves

316 Stainless Steel and FKM Seals

The 316 stainless steel body, release components and gripping collet provide corrosion-resistant construction for washdown and demanding machinery. FKM (Viton®) seals support many air, vacuum and industrial-fluid applications, but compatibility must be assessed for the specific media and temperature.

Pneuforce publishes a family working-pressure figure of up to 420 psi for S-prefix stainless fittings and a fitting temperature range of -20 to 200°C (-4 to 392°F). Those are family specifications, not proof of suitability for every tube, fluid or assembly. Check the tubing, connection method, seal/chemical compatibility and exact product documentation before operation.

Selection & Installation: Choose the actual tubing outside diameter, verify NPT/UNF/BSPT thread form and port gender where applicable, and follow the specified seal and torque requirements. Do not infer potable-water, food-contact, steam or chemical-service certification from stainless steel alone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this fitting have male or female threads?

The SCF5/32-N1 has a female 1/8 NPT threaded connection to accept a matching male fitting, plus a push-in connection for 5/32" (nominal 4 mm) tubing.

How does it differ from a male straight stud?

The female straight stud accepts an externally threaded component; a male stud screws into an internally threaded port. The same tube size does not make the thread genders interchangeable.

Is this an NPT or BSPT thread?

This model is listed with a 1/8 NPT connection. NPT and BSPT are not interchangeable based on nominal size alone; verify the port thread before installation.

Is 5/32-inch tubing exactly the same as 4 mm?

No. 5/32 in is 3.96875 mm, not precisely 4 mm. The catalogue may show a nominal cross-reference; confirm allowable tube outside-diameter tolerances before substituting tubing.

Is this fitting suitable for vacuum?

Pneuforce lists this stainless push-to-connect family for compressed air and vacuum. The completed connection must use compatible tubing with a clean, undamaged outside surface, and the system must be checked for leakage at its operating vacuum.

Can I use this fitting for drinking water?

Do not assume potable-water approval. Pneuforce lists these push-in fittings for compressed air, vacuum and non-potable water; drinking-water or food-contact approvals would require separate documented certification.

What does FKM (Viton®) contribute?

FKM is the fluoroelastomer sealing material used in this fitting family. It is chosen for resistance to many oils, chemicals and elevated temperatures, but exact media compatibility depends on the fluid concentration, temperature and seal formulation.

What should I check when installing push-in tubing?

Match the tube outside diameter and approved tubing material to the fitting. Cut squarely, remove burrs, insert fully and check retention and leaks before putting the system into service. Confirm the connection can be disconnected safely after depressurizing.
