Bag & Sack Vacuum Grippers EOAT

Barracuda Vacuum Bag Gripper for Sacks, Bags and Flexible Packaging

The Vacuforce Barracuda Vacuum Bag Gripper has been specifically engineered for handling bags, sacks and other flexible packaging materials that cannot be reliably lifted using conventional vacuum cups. Traditional suction cups often collapse the bag material over the vacuum port, causing loss of vacuum and unreliable handling. The Barracuda eliminates this problem with its innovative internal support grid and large perimeter foam seal.

Instead of relying on multiple vacuum cups, the Barracuda uses a single continuous foam sealing surface that conforms to the irregular shape of bags while an internal grid maintains unrestricted airflow across the entire vacuum face. This allows secure lifting of paper sacks, woven polypropylene bags, plastic bags, valve sacks and many other flexible products used throughout automated packaging and material handling industries.

Designed Specifically for Bag Handling

Unlike standard suction cups, the Barracuda was designed specifically for difficult bag handling applications where product movement, wrinkles and flexible surfaces make sealing difficult. The large foam gasket compresses against the product while the internal support structure prevents the bag material from sealing off the vacuum inlet.

This design delivers reliable lifting performance with significantly fewer dropped loads compared to traditional vacuum cup systems.

Ideal Applications

  • Paper sacks
  • Plastic bags
  • Woven polypropylene bags
  • Valve bags
  • Agricultural seed bags
  • Chemical bags
  • Flour and food ingredient sacks
  • Pet food bags
  • Animal feed bags
  • Bulk packaging lines

Suitable for Robotics and Manual Handling

The Barracuda is equally suited to automated robotic end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), gantry systems and vacuum lifting devices used by operators. It can be connected to compressed-air-powered vacuum venturi generators, regenerative blowers or traditional vacuum pumps depending on the application's airflow requirements.

Its lightweight construction makes it an excellent solution for palletizing robots, collaborative robots (cobots) and ergonomic vacuum lifting equipment.

Why Doesn't a Standard Vacuum Cup Work on Bags?

Flexible bags tend to deform when vacuum is applied. With a conventional suction cup, the bag material can be drawn directly into the vacuum port, restricting airflow and causing the vacuum level to collapse. The Barracuda's internal support grid prevents this from happening, allowing consistent airflow while maintaining an effective seal around the perimeter.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Barracuda Vacuum Bag Gripper?

The Barracuda is a specialized vacuum gripper designed specifically for lifting bags, sacks and flexible packaging materials that cannot be reliably handled using conventional vacuum cups.

Why won't standard vacuum cups lift bags reliably?

Flexible bag material often blocks the vacuum port or wrinkles during lifting, causing vacuum loss. The Barracuda prevents this using an internal airflow support grid and perimeter foam seal.

What types of bags can the Barracuda handle?

It is suitable for paper sacks, woven polypropylene bags, plastic bags, valve bags, agricultural sacks, chemical bags, food ingredient bags and many other flexible packaging products.

How does the Barracuda prevent vacuum loss?

An internal grid supports the bag material so it cannot collapse over the vacuum inlet, maintaining unrestricted airflow throughout the lifting cycle.

Can the Barracuda be used with robotic palletizers?

Yes. The Barracuda is widely used on robotic palletizers, gantry systems and custom end-of-arm tooling for automated bag handling.

Can it be used with a vacuum pump?

Yes. The Barracuda is compatible with vacuum pumps, regenerative blowers and compressed air vacuum venturi generators.

What is the maximum lifting capacity?

The standard Barracuda can lift up to approximately 330 lbs (150kg) when operating at around 80% vacuum, depending on the application and safety factor.

Can it be used for manual vacuum lifting systems?

Yes. The Barracuda is suitable for ergonomic vacuum lifting equipment as well as fully automated robotic systems.

What industries use vacuum bag grippers?

Industries include agriculture, food processing, chemical production, pet food, animal feed, cement, fertilizers, packaging and warehouse automation.

Why choose the Vacuforce Barracuda over multiple suction cups?

The Barracuda provides a purpose-built solution for flexible bags by eliminating blocked vacuum ports, improving lifting reliability, reducing dropped products and simplifying end-of-arm tooling compared with multi-cup designs.
