PFG Series Suction Cups

PFG Series Suction Cups

The PFG series Suction Cups are designed for applications where the surface height is known or when attached to a level compensator. These cups feature a flat design and are excellent for shear movement and grip.

Vacuforce supports machine builders, integrators and maintenance teams with application-focused vacuum and pneumatic components for industrial automation.

What Are PFG Series Suction Cups?

Vacuum suction cups create a temporary seal against a product surface so atmospheric pressure can generate holding force when vacuum is applied. Cup diameter, shape, bellows geometry, material compound and connection style should all be selected around the actual product and machine motion.

Key Features

  • Multiple cup geometries for flat, curved, uneven or flexible products
  • Material options for wear resistance, temperature and application compatibility
  • Compact vacuum gripping for robot and machine automation
  • Replacement cup and fitting configurations available across multiple sizes
  • Suitable for decentralized or centralized vacuum systems depending on the machine design

Typical Applications

  • Robotic pick and place
  • Packaging and case handling
  • Sheet and panel handling
  • Plastic component handling
  • Glass and metal handling where the selected cup is appropriate
  • General industrial automation

Selection Guidance

Select a suction cup by product surface, cup diameter, required lifting force, load orientation, acceleration, cycle time, vacuum level and compound compatibility. Bellows cups add compliance and height compensation, while flat cups generally provide lower internal volume and fast response.

Application Tip: Final selection should be based on the actual product, machine cycle, operating environment and required pneumatic or vacuum performance. Confirm model-specific ratings before installation.

Flat vs. Bellows Cups

Flat cups are generally preferred for stable, relatively flat surfaces and fast cycling. Bellows cups add compliance, angle accommodation and height compensation where product position varies.

Why Use This Product Family?

Vacuum suction cups create a temporary seal against a product surface so atmospheric pressure can generate holding force when vacuum is applied. Cup diameter, shape, bellows geometry, material compound and connection style should all be selected around the actual product and machine motion. Selecting the correct configuration can simplify machine integration, improve serviceability and provide more consistent application performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I choose the correct suction cup?

Start with product shape and surface condition, then confirm cup diameter, material, vacuum level, load orientation and required safety factor.

What is the difference between flat and bellows suction cups?

Flat cups have low internal volume and are well suited to stable surfaces. Bellows cups provide additional compliance and height compensation.

Can suction cups handle curved surfaces?

Certain cup profiles and bellows designs can accommodate convex, concave or slightly irregular surfaces. Application testing is recommended for difficult geometries.

Does cup material matter?

Yes. NBR, silicone, polyurethane and specialty compounds differ in wear resistance, temperature capability, marking characteristics and product compatibility.

How should lifting force be sized?

Use theoretical cup force only as a starting point and apply an appropriate engineering safety factor for orientation, acceleration, leakage, surface condition and risk.

Can one cup style handle every product?

No. Cup geometry and compound should be matched to the actual product and machine motion for reliable handling.
